Imbolc Blessing for the land

Sharing a new Imbolc inspired blessing for the land - with the aid of White Hind spirit

As the new green shoots push through the winter’s sleeping leaves around me and hold the line for a new cycle of growth, I invite you to join me in calling to the bright young white hind of hope.

The White Hind spirit is linked with seeing beyond the obvious, with trust and without ‘trying’. I often link her energy to that of tai chi, rooted movements that happen with strength yet subtlety - intuitively led. She embodies the heart of sacred connection, she calls us deep into the forest. Yet we must also remain grounded and balanced within this world.

In terms of an Antlered Path ally, I feel her to be a guide to the healing space we most need in Nature and to the resources or signs that will most help with healing we both provide to ourselves and to others and ofcourse to Nature. When we are low in energy, when we have burnt out, we cannot see or feel the intuitive grace as readily. Meditating or connecting with White Hind can help to realign our synchronistic flow.

In calling to her, we also call inwards to our clear, sacred source. We align to the spirit of renewal, however we may feel or sense this.

Imbolc (traditionally honoured on the 1st February) in spiritual terms can be a space of emergence but also slow shifts, it is awakening but also quiet reflection. It can bring feelings of excitement when we see the new life appearing through the earth’s surface but it is a place of winter’s dreaming too. In fact I see it as a winter festival really, with little pathways opening up to the Spring.

Bear is not yet ready to wake up fully, ice can still sting, snow still fall deeply. Tender new shoots may hold back a little longer….

Cailleach has not yet snuggled down into her Spring retreat.

Last year I shared an Imbolc Eve (January 31st) ritual on this substack, if this appeals, please do check it out here.

The act of expressing a blessing not only ripples out to the spaces around us, but it also fills our inner cup/well. Pagan Celtic blessings (and this applies to many other traditions) are rooted in deep, animistic connections to nature. Honouring the land, sea, and sky as living, healing entities, together with the wider ecosystems.

Blessings can be a form of space clearing and ‘charming’. I would love to share more on this topic because this is so much to it. Something I am keen to research further together with bringing my own wisdom and experience through.

So the blessing that I offer further below is for you to use and share in your walks, your morning connections with your altar or simply as you navigate through your day or week. As we arrive in the grove of Imbolc, however that grows and glows. The blessing is shared like a scattering of seeds, with deep abiding love for the green mantle.

A flourish of snowdrops at Cattistock churchyard by the well. I love how they grow up through the dead leaf matter and churned up wet, winter soil. Beacons that remind us of tender new light. I took the photo on my little walk there this week.
